The story then introduces Cole Reed, who works as a
bodyguard for billionaire businessman Tibu Campallo, the owner of KMG. Cole is
not simply another employee. He and Tibu have developed a close personal
relationship, and Tibu clearly trusts him with far more than his physical
safety.
Tibu holds a celebration for his son, Kameron Campallo, who
has recently taken a larger role in the family business after helping organize
the departure of a KMG cargo vessel called the Artemis from Bangkok.
After the celebration, Cole drives Tibu home. Their journey
is suddenly interrupted when armed mercenaries and corrupt police officers
ambush them. Cole fights back and kills the attackers, but Tibu is shot during
the attack and dies from his injuries.
Cole immediately realizes that this was no random hit. The
killers were organized, professionally equipped and clearly knew exactly who
they were targeting.
Cole Becomes the Main Suspect
Knowing he cannot trust the authorities, Cole contacts his
detective friend Taran and asks him to investigate the attackers. One important
detail stands out: one of the mercenaries was American and appears to have ties
to people connected with KMG.
The man behind the operation is Jaran Daniles. When Daniles
learns that Cole survived, he orders his men to find and kill him. At the same
time, news reports begin identifying Cole as the prime suspect in Tibu's

Angie Ellis Boards the Artemis

Captain Marko Madsen and first mate Mateo.
Cole, meanwhile, secretly boards the Artemis while

kidnapped and trafficked men, women and children stowed in containers.

tries to help them escape. She intends to report what she has found to Captain
Madsen, but his reaction makes her suspicious.
Two armed mercenaries arrive and try to force the kidnapped
victims back into the container. Cole intervenes, brutally defeats the first
attacker and then shoots both men. He begins guiding the prisoners toward the
lifeboats.
The Captain Is Part of the Conspiracy
Angie makes her way to the bridge and tries to send a
distress signal to the Navy. That is when the truth becomes undeniable: Madsen
and Mateo are both involved in the trafficking operation.
They try to kill Angie before she can alert anyone. Angie
fights back, knocks Mateo away and escapes, but Madsen shoots her in the back
as she flees.
Cole finds Angie before Madsen's men do. He treats her wound
and begins working with her to find another way off the ship. Meanwhile,
mercenaries force the trafficked prisoners off the lifeboats and kill one of
them as a warning.
The Navy Begins to Suspect Something
Angie's earlier distress call is received by Captain
Spencer. Madsen claims it was a false alarm, but Spencer is unconvinced and

They discover that Madsen once belonged to a mercenary unit
and was suspected of killing a teammate in an incident that was later covered
up.
Spencer also digs into Cole's background. Cole was once a
police officer in London and later served as a Navy commando. During a mission,
Cole went rogue, and his father died trying to save him. Cole has carried the
guilt ever since.
Realizing that the official story about Cole may not be
complete, Spencer orders his men to head toward the Artemis.
Cole Starts Fighting Back
Cole decides to create confusion aboard the ship by shooting
a fuse box and starting a fire. When Madsen sends one of his men to
investigate, Cole kills him.
The distraction pulls Madsen and Mateo away from the bridge,
allowing Angie to send another distress call.
Using a hidden walkie-talkie, Cole and Angie overhear Madsen
speaking with Daniles. They learn that a buyer will arrive within two hours to
purchase the trafficked people. They also hear information suggesting that
Kameron may be involved.
The Buyer Arrives
Cole continues moving through the ship while avoiding
gunfire. Angie is eventually captured by Mateo.
The buyer arrives aboard the Artemis and attempts to
purchase one of the women. Before the deal can be completed, gunfire erupts from
Cole on the deck and the transaction collapses.
Angie uses broken glass to cut herself free, kills her guard
and takes his rifle. When Mateo appears, she shoots and kills him.
Cole Reed vs. Captain Madsen
Cole shoots his way through the remaining mercenaries and
kills the buyer before facing Captain Madsen.
The two men fight with an axe, a knife and a hook in a
brutal final confrontation. After a bloody struggle, Cole gains the upper hand
and kills Madsen with a harpoon to the skull.
With Madsen dead, the trafficking operation aboard the
Artemis effectively collapses.
Angie Saves Cole From Arrest
Captain Spencer's men finally arrive and secure the Artemis.
They prepare to take Cole into custody because he is still officially a wanted
fugitive and an unauthorized stowaway.
Angie steps in and tells them that the man who helped her
was simply another crew member. As for Cole Reed, she claims he went overboard.
Spencer's men understand what she is doing and choose not to
push the issue. The trafficked men, women and children are freed, while Cole
slips away on a small pirate boat.
Before disappearing, Cole contacts Taran again and asks him
to trace an account number. Cole knows that Madsen was not the person who
started the conspiracy.
Kameron's Secret Is Revealed
Cole later finds Kameron and confronts him about his ties to
Madsen and the cargo aboard the Artemis.
Kameron admits that he knew there was an illegal operation
connected to the ship and expected to receive a cut of whatever was being
transported. However, he insists that he never intended for his father to be
killed.
Cole does not kill Kameron or turn him in. Instead, he tells
him that he will have to live with the guilt of knowing that his greed helped
create the circumstances that led to Tibu's death.
The moment has special meaning for Cole because he has spent
years carrying guilt over the death of his own father.
The Opening Scene Finally Makes Sense
The film returns to the mysterious vehicle crash from the
opening. We finally learn that Cole was driving the larger vehicle and that the
man inside the van was Daniles.
Cole kills Daniles's guard and drags Daniles from the wreck.
He demands to know why Tibu was murdered.
Daniles explains that the plan depended on making Kameron
the new CEO of KMG. Tibu was experienced and difficult to control, while
Kameron was younger, compromised and already involved in the illegal business.
With Tibu gone, the conspirators believed they could control KMG through his
son.
Cole now knows the full truth. He executes Daniles and walks
away.
Ending Explained: Why Cole Lets Kameron Live
The ending creates an important contrast between Kameron and
Daniles. Both played a role in the events that led to Tibu's death, but their
involvement was not identical.
Daniles deliberately organized the assassination. His plan
required Tibu to die so that Kameron could take control of KMG and become
